South East Australian Survey and Spatial Information Congress

In 2008 The Institution of Surveyors NSW ran a 2 day congress with split sessions for the first time. Formerly known as the Australia Day and Remote Members seminar for its intention of serving remote members and being held over the Australia Day weekend. The congress has been designed to allow participants to obtain all of their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points for each year from a single event. This was originally run for members from remote areas for their convenience and also to provide them with interaction with other surveyors.

The Institution is committed to ongoing learning for the profession and encourages members to avail themselves of Professional Development opportunities whenever possible.

The event includes a dinner at which an eminent speaker presents a topic akin to surveying and/or spatial sciences.

This event also includes a "Happy Hour", and full partners program to promote social interaction between the attendees, and their partners. This interaction is highly sought after, particularly by members from remote areas who can bounce ideas and issues off other surveyors.

It is this event which showcases the different abilities and interests of surveyors.

This is an excellent event for surveyors, spatial scientists and those in the land industry.

A full partners program is also provided for attendees partners, especially those from regional areas. The program usually includes visits to historic homes, sigh seeing and shopping.

The congress also provides a trade show which is accesible to participants over the two days, making it possible to view new products, services and technologies, relevant to the surveying and spatial sectors.
